I sit at my computer this morning with a bit of sadness, but knowing full well that I'm doing the right thing. This posting is my last for Penny Pinching Pixy. I have thoroughly enjoyed scoping out the great deals and I hope it has been a help to some of you.
But.... I have thought long and hard and prayed about it too. Since I was in my early 20's I knew that I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. I've never had any ambitions to own a business -- I just wanted my "job" to be taking care of my home and family, something I love doing. I've had various part-time jobs throughout my married life (as well as right now), so I'm not against helping my family out financially.
So why am I giving up blogging? Well, there's been numerous things that have shaped my decision, but the overriding issue is my kids. My husband and I don't have many more years to invest in the life of our son -- he'll go off to college in 9 years. Our time of raising him is half over... sniff, sniff. Not to mention we have two little girls as well who need their mommy and daddy. I was recently talking with someone about their childhood and they shared with me how they were always shoved out the door to play. There wasn't much interaction or time spent with the parents. I don't want my kids to reach adulthood and feel the same way about me. I don't want them to think all I ever did was find deals and sit at the computer all day. I want to spend time with them, helping to shape their lives and by the grace of God see them as happy, productive adults who love God and serve others.
Thank you for being such faithful readers. I have enjoyed reading your comments, you have been very kind to me. Don't despair you can still do this on your own. I hope I've given you some tools to help you on this money saving journey. Two blogs that I have followed for 7-8 months now and have been a huge help to me are Hip to Save and Money Saving Mom. Check them out, their format is much the same as mine and so I think you'll find that many of the deals I posted will be at their sites as well, with exception to Cub Foods and Coborns. However, if you become a member of A Full Cup, you'll be able to read and comment on the Cub Foods forum to find out the latest deals people are finding. And don't forget that Coupon Mom is a great resource for all the latest deals and coupon match ups. It changes with the week, so you can stay abreast of all the new deals posted.
Thanks again! It's been a fun journey.

I'll certainly miss your blogs, Jen! I am so thankful, however, that the good Lord directed me to your blog and that we surprisingly live so close and are now facebook friends. What a joy that is!
I pray as you purpose to spend more time with your family that He will bless you abundantly!
Thank you so much for helping me. I totally understand and believe you are doing a wonderful thing for your family and children. Parenting is the MOST important job we will EVER HAVE!!! Good luck and have fun with those kiddos!!!!!!
Jen,
I live in Monticello and always felt we had a "central Minnesota" connection. I want to Thank you for all the wonderful deals you have posted and wish you the best of luck with future plans! Barb
I've never commented on your blog as of yet... but i wanted to just to let you know how great you are! I read about you in the st. cloud times which got me interested. i'm only 24 and still learning how to budget my money and spend it well. You were a great help to me in the short time i was able to benefit from your wisdom. Thank you so much. God bless you and your family, your kids are very lucky to have such a great mom!
I've only very recently been reading your blog and thought it was so awesome how you were helping other "domestic engineers" have tools to save money in their home purchases...yet now that I read this post I can see God has given you an even great idea. You ARE the only mom your kids will ever have and I applaud you for seeking to make wise use of your time with them. I have 3 little ones as well and i was inspired to seek to be and play with them more. THey can become so self-sufficient after a while but that doesn't change the fact that as parents our role is still so important and the time we spend them is PRICELESS. So in that you ARE making the best use of what you have been given. God bless!
